When in Rome…

I’m always looking for new ways to stay fit while traveling and I found this awesome website for a company called Sight Jogging in Rome.  You make a reservation, pick a running route and you have an instant running partner.  Choose to run through Ancient Rome, St. Peter’s Basilica and your choice of 13 other routes.  Sounds much better than my 5:30 am park runs!!!  I can’t wait to try this on my next trip to Italy!  Sight Jogging is a member of Global Running Tours so check out their other cities!

Have you tried a running tour?  Let me know!

Last night I was reminiscing about some of my past trips and I was thinking about the best train station I have encountered in my travels.  Hands down, it is Berlin Hauptbahnhof, the main train station in Berlin, Germany.  It was finished in time for the 2006 World Cup and it is the largest and most modern train station in Europe.  It is phenomenal.  If you forgot something for your travels, no worries!  There are pharmacies, clothing stores as well as plenty of places to grab a coffee!  If your upcoming travels take you through Germany, check it out!

We Are Penn State…

My beloved Nittany Lions  won their football home opener today with a 31 – 7 victory over Akron.  Whoo hoo!  If you’ve never seen a game at Beaver Stadium, or never experienced a college football game, then take a road trip to State College, PA this fall.  Check the Penn State Athletic Site for tickets.  If today’s game didn’t make you run out and make plans for a road trip, this definitely will:

Hotels for Dogs (and You)

If you’re like me, you hate to travel without your dog.  I mean, how could I leave this guy?

My sleeping boxer, Colt.

My sleeping boxer, Colt.

OK, tear yourself away from the picture.  I know, it’s super cute.  Anyway, the point is that now hotels are recognizing that doggie parents don’t want to leave their four-legged kids at home.  There are many hotels that will allow you to bring your dog with you and some even have special programs focusing on their comfort.  For example, Loews Hotels touts itself as having some of the most pet friendly hotels in the industry.  So, if you want to travel with your dog (or cat, etc.,) call the hotel directly when booking to find out their pet policies.  You may be pleasantly surprised!

A little travel inspiration?

Have you ever seen Lululemon Athletica’s company manifesto?  For those of you who aren’t familiar, Lululemon Athletica is a company that makes athletic apparel.  The best part of shopping there, besides their fantastic yoga, running and other athletic clothes is their company manifesto.  It is found everywhere.  It is printed on their reusable shopping bags that they give you when you buy something, and you can pick up a copy of it in a poster or postcard size in the store.  It is also on water bottles and jackets.

Two of my favorite sayings in the manifesto are:

  • Dance, sing, floss and travel.
  • Successful people replace the words “wish”, “should” and “try” with “I will”.

How does this relate to travel?  Well, I think the first saying is pretty obvious.  For the second, instead of saying “I wish I could go to Paris” say “I will go to Paris.”  Making passive plans just delays your dreams.  Saying things with a more definitive statement will change your whole outlook.  Or, at least it will get you to Paris…

Three words…

I’ve had a busy few days going to see a few shows in NYC.

I have three words:

Go. See. It.

Amelie’s Paris

Every time I see the movie Amelie, with Audrey Tautou, it makes me want to immediately book a plane ticket to Paris.  To enjoy the whimsical life like Amelie!  Luckily, most of the filming locations were shot on location in the Montmartre section of Paris.  On my next trip to Paris, I am going to live like Amelie and stop off at all of the filming locations, including the fabulous Cafe de Deux Moulins. This book, The Worldwide Guide to Movie Locations, is a must-have for any traveler who wants to add visits to their favorite movie locations on their next trip!  Happy Travels!
