No, this post is not about what you think.  It is about a fantastic YouTube video that makes me smile every time I see it.  After you watch it, you might think to yourself, “How is this related to travel?”  To me, hearing the song instantly brings to mind images of rolling Austrian hills and a twirling Julie Andrews.  Also, look at the faces of the people who are not participating in the dance?  They look so happy!  That’s what travel does to me, it makes me happy and I hope it makes you happy, too.

Hotels for Dogs (and You)

If you’re like me, you hate to travel without your dog.  I mean, how could I leave this guy?

My sleeping boxer, Colt.

My sleeping boxer, Colt.

OK, tear yourself away from the picture.  I know, it’s super cute.  Anyway, the point is that now hotels are recognizing that doggie parents don’t want to leave their four-legged kids at home.  There are many hotels that will allow you to bring your dog with you and some even have special programs focusing on their comfort.  For example, Loews Hotels touts itself as having some of the most pet friendly hotels in the industry.  So, if you want to travel with your dog (or cat, etc.,) call the hotel directly when booking to find out their pet policies.  You may be pleasantly surprised!

Have you ever seen Lululemon Athletica’s company manifesto?  For those of you who aren’t familiar, Lululemon Athletica is a company that makes athletic apparel.  The best part of shopping there, besides their fantastic yoga, running and other athletic clothes is their company manifesto.  It is found everywhere.  It is printed on their reusable shopping bags that they give you when you buy something, and you can pick up a copy of it in a poster or postcard size in the store.  It is also on water bottles and jackets.

Where in the world?

Well, summer is almost over and I haven’t taken a vacation.  I think it’s because I have such a hard time deciding where to go.  Does anyone else have this problem? This year, I made a decision that I was going to travel to places that I consider exotic:  Argentina, Iceland and Peru. Of course, I will probably end up at my favorite place in the world:  Italy.  The hardest thing about traveling to Italy is that there are so many great cities, towns and experiences.  Although most visitors to Italy overlook the fabulous city of Milan, it is one of my favorites.  I can’t describe the feeling of seeing DaVinci’s “The Last Supper” in person or visiting the La Scala Opera House.  I only spent one day in Milan on my last trip so I think a trip to Milan is in my near future!  I stayed at a fabulous hotel in Milan on my last trip: Hotel Spadari al Duomo.  It had it a fantastic location and a reasonable price for Milan.  See you there!
